What’s the A family up to? What’s the going word for ocean life in the house? How many family melt-downs have they have? How did Mr. A end up in the smelliest place in Lancaster county? Why do our neighbors now love us? Click for more details:
So, I hope you are all keeping super busy. I know I am. Actually, we really are. I think I started to watch the Dark Crystal series on Netflix back on Saturday and I’m about halfway into the 3rd episode. We really haven’t watched much TV here. Instead, I’m running after the little ones and cracking the whip on chores. So far, we’ve mulched almost 6 cubic yards, fixed a fence and re-did the roof on a goat pen (soon to house chickens), cleaned some of a garage, hung pictures, and cleaned the same rooms at least 5 times. The one and only time we’ve melted down so far was yesterday — also the only day we didn’t do yard work. I’m guessing purpose = calm.
Monday was Reece’s 13th. Last weekend, we got him a drumset for his birthday. We can now be heard at least a quarter of a mile down the road blaring, blasting, and booming. There is now a band of one trumpet, a clarinet, a flute, an electric guitar, an Alexa pumped through a sound system, and the drumset. Did I mention we live on a quiet road of mostly farmland? Yeah, what neighbors we have are sure to be enthralled.
I was late posting this morning because I set out to brave the local grocery store. There’s an Amish place near us that sells bumps and dents for reaaaallly low prices. Still had eggs and other stuff too. I bought (yes, I counted) 50 cans and at least 10 containers of random pasta, along with a bunch of other stuff that I hope to never need. The downside? If Walmart has the reputation of weird people, this is where the smelly people come. Combined with the Amish lack of showering, you also get the hillbillies in from God-only-knows-where. Apparently, indoor plumbing doesn’t reach out there either. Some days, especially in the summer, it gets particularly ripe.
My kid’s school is not offering any kind of online enrichment, classes or anything. So, I’ve been trying to find them things to do. We were invited by the family of one of my students to go to a field trip to the Monterrey Bay Aquarium. Had a nice time. We also learned that Kinsley continues to have her own names for things (she refers to the family room as the ‘farting room’ because “I fart in there.”) You know those squishy things with tentacles that sting people? She calls them Jelly Squids. — think about it… it actually makes sense.
So, here’s two quotes from the last day:
Hope (9yo): Oh, by the way, we have a hanging sheep on the back of the house.
Christopher (15 yo): [To his gma] Are you in favor of Woman’s Suffrage?
Gma: I’m sorry,…? (She’s hard of hearing, not that she didn’t know what it was)
Kinsley: He said, are you in favor of a woman sandwich?
So, question for you: For the first time ever, I’m going to open up the comments section. Please be normal and appropriate.
In the comments: what shows have you blasted straight through on Netflix since Friday?
That was a great read
…. Thanks?
I’ve already watched it, but I’m re-watching the entirety of “Dragons: Race to the Edge” because I have an unhealthy obsession with How To Train Your Dragon.
I’ve seen most of those too. Actually, for a while, I wouldn’t let the kids watch them without me. It got a little repetitive after a little while so I stopped.
I haven’t gone through any series yet but I have blasted through a few movies with my little brother. I had a dance battle with him to Hairspray on Monday and I watched “Scooby Doo on Zombie Island” at least 5 times.
That is so sweet. Absolutely pure…:-)
I watched the paint dry and then I binged grass growing. Afterwards, I was so stunned by the amazing amount of work put into both shows. I was struck with so much awe I rewatched each dix-neuf times so far. Its starting to impact my daily life, I will be asked questions from family members, and not even hear them due to my mind being completely occipied by thoughts of the enigma that is grass growing, and paint drying. I think its starting to become an obsession. I spent all my money on a Grass Growing streaming service featuring shows that involve the growing of grass in different climates, very good stuff. However, I may have bought a few months too many. Who can tell when this coronavirus will end? So, to alleviate any potential stress of running out of a membership to feed my disgusting grass growing addiction, I bought 8
2 years of a membership. We’ll see if the ROI is good on that one.
Isn’t that rated to tv-ma? I mean, not a single one of those grass blades is clothed. Let’s keep it clean here, folks.
Apologies for bringing such a filthy piece of programming to this christian blog. Let me atone for such sin by sharing my favorite commandment, “I am the Lord thy God.” Words to live your life by.
First, I love your Avatar. Wonderful.
Second, I feel I must say this… Not a Christian blog (but I know you were joking.)
Third… My favorite command comes from first, second, and third Spider Man: with great power comes great responsibility.
I’ve only been rewatching The Magicians because trying to follow along with their lore keeps me busy. It’s also very entertaining.
Also the quote from Christopher will stick with me for the rest of my life.
